What are You Waiting FOUR?! NewMeMD 's Top 4 Foods to Avoid

The long-awaited season of wearing shorts, tank tops and swimsuits has arrived (hooray!), which means we can wear open-toed shoes or shirts without sleeves to maximize that sun-kissed glow we get from enjoying the outdoors.

Exposing more of our body parts during the warm weather months, however, can bring along fears of whether we're even svelte enough to sport our favorite summer attire...

We at NewMeMD have a simple solution to lay those dreadful feelings to rest... with our new list of the top 4 foods we recommend you remove from your diet (and your vocabulary if possible).

By cutting out these few products from your current eating regimen you will not only increase your chances of staying fit, you'll also be well on your way to looking and feeling fab in that new outfit!

1. Coleslaw. Yes it's a summertime grill-out favorite and sure, it does contain cabbage and carrots...but that's not all. Coleslaw is also chock-full of fatty mayonnaise! If you absolutely can’t live without having a side o' slaw at your upcoming picnic, try making it yourself using a plain, fat-free yogurt in place of the mayo.

    2. Tomato sauce. Talk about gettin' sauced! Pre-made tomato sauces are often loaded with refined sugars. Many people have NO idea about the surprising sugar content in what seems like "just a marinara sauce," but this famous pasta dressing can promote weight gain and could eventually increase your risk of developing diabetes. Skip the sugary sauces and opt for a homemade concoction using fresh tomatoes, basil & your favorite spices as a much more healthful (and tastier) alternative.

    3. Multigrain products. These are NOT a breadwinner! Many of us unfortunately mistake multigrain breads, pastas and cereals for healthful mealtime options... and that's because the laws regarding ingredient descriptions on our food labels in the U.S. allow manufacturers to deceivingly list their products as “multigrain”  even if their main components are refined (aka processed) grains. Refined grains lack significant nutritional value and are strongly associated with inflammation in the body as well as weight gain. So don't go there. We suggest moving away from this misleading multigrain mentality by consuming more protein and fresh veggies instead.

4. Foods with artificial sweeteners. Even though artificial sweeteners have ZERO calories many of them (such as aspartame) can actually impair your body’s ability to know whether your stomach is truly full. This can dangerously trigger overeating or make it difficult for you to resist much stronger cravings...This, in the end, is what results in weight gain! So ditch the diet sodas and sugar-free beverages. You can always replace them with your favorite fruit-infused water. Your H2O can also be delish with fresh mint leaves or cool slices of cucumber!

So there you have it. Less than a handful of foods we recommend you GIVE UP in order to TRIM DOWN successfully.

WAIST Not Want Not: NewMeMD's 4 Suggestions for Finding an Ideal Weight Loss Solution for YOU

More than half of Americans who go on a weight loss or diet typically start at the beginning of a new year (although it's never too late to START NOW).

Unfortunately, the difficulty in losing the weight and keeping it off leads many people to turn to commercial weight loss programs or heavily marketed diet pills for help.

Almost all of these commercial weight loss programs and weight loss supplements you see out there may work, but for the most part they only motivate you sufficiently to change the way you eat or increase the amount of calories you burn through physical activity each day.

With that in mind, here are 4 things our NewMeMD wellness team suggests you look for when in search of a fast, safe weight loss program tailored specifically to your needs & goals:

1. Make sure your weight management program is safe.

Whether you create your own weight loss regimen or attempt one you've read/heard about, make sure it is safe. A safe protocol for shedding those excess pounds should include all of your recommended daily allowances for vitamins, minerals and protein. Additionally, your diet meals & newly implemented eating habits should be low in calories to ensure maximum results.

2. Aim for consistent w
eight loss.
Trying to lose a significant amount of weight within a specific time frame? Then rapid weight loss solutions such as our prescription hCG weight loss program(s) may be ideal for you. When following our reduced-calorie diet, patients can lose as many as 30 pounds in just one month, which is an average of one pound lost per day (individual results may vary)!

3. Commit to a program that won't interfere with any health condition(s) you may currently have.

If you plan to lose more than 15 to 20 pounds and you have health problems and/or are taking prescription medications regularly we recommend you have a doctor (such as our NewMeMD physicians) evaluate you prior to starting your anticipated weight loss journey. Our practitioners & medical staff can not only assess your general health/current medical condition(s), we will also monitor your waistline-shrinking results weekly, as well provide you with the nutritional guidance you need to achieve maximum weight loss results.

4. Set realistic, yet professionally-supervised goals for whittling your waistline.

Rather than just trying the newest fat-burning pills seen on TV or experimenting with a popular fad diet on your own, consider opting for a solution that's backed by a team of medical experts. Doctor-supervised programs such as those we offer at NewMeMD can provide you with a realistic & safe way to lose weight along with FDA-approved medications, pharmaceutical-grade supplements and most importantly... the ongoing support you need to reach your goals of becoming a slimmer YOU.

If you've been struggling with dropping those unwanted pounds before the summer season arrives or are searching for a safe, effective weight loss program visit NewMeMD.com to get started TODAY.

NewMeMD 's List of 3 Foods Linked with Depression

Anybody who claims that they don't eat more during the summertime is a cheat and a liar.

With all of the cookouts and family reunions of the season, many of us are having trouble finding healthy choices to eat.

And that is exactly the reason why it is impossible to secure a treadmill at a gym in June- our summer body resolutions are the exact reflections of our guilt.

This is how we know that we are eating poorly, and our poor choices become habitual which is hard to control. Recent studies show that there's a possibility that eating certain foods is associated with depression.

Here are the Three Foods to Avoid in Excess this Summer Season:

1) Refined Foods.

Pasta is a quick meal, which is great on those busy nights of doing your shopping or baking. Pasta, rice and bagels are foods that have been identified as inflammatory and have been linked to depression in women ages 50 to 77, according to an October 2013 study in the Journal of Brain Behavior and Immunity.

2) Soft Drinks. If you are buzzing around from store to store, how will you replenish those lost fluids…water for some, yes but for many, it’s all so easy to grab a cola on-the-go and proceed with what you were doing. A recent study has indicated that soft drinks (including diet ones), which are now part of our regular diets, may also contribute to depression.

3) Fast Food.
A recent report by the journal of Public Health Nutrition in a 2012 study in several cities mentions that "people who are used to eating fast food are 51% more likely to develop depression than those who don’t." The foods included in this article were commercial-baked goods, hamburgers, hot dogs and pizza, which we all have easy access to due to them being everywhere.

If you think you could use a little guidance with your nutrition or would like to discuss a healthy, medically supervised weight loss solution that's right for you visit NewMeMD.com TODAY.

3 Ways to Change Your Body by Changing Your Mindset

Losing weight is simple, right?!

All you have to do is eat fewer calories than you burn. If that were really all there was to it, our population wouldn't be fighting an obesity epidemic and we'd all look like Jillian Michaels and Dolvett Quince from "The Biggest Loser." In fact, there wouldn't be a need for shows like "The Biggest Loser" in the first place.

Anyone who's ever turned to chocolate to deal with a bad day can tell you that weight loss and getting fit is complicated business. The body you have is controlled more by your mind than anything else.

While it's not as simple as 1-2-3, if you feel you're holding yourself back with your thoughts and behaviors. Here are 3 steps from our NewMeMD wellness team that can get you over some of those mental hurdles.

1) Identify what's held you back before.
Do you overeat when you're stressed? Angry? Sad? Have you often started successfully on a weight loss plan and gave up entirely because of one slip up? Do you feel overwhelmed by the amount of weight you're trying to lose? Do you hate to exercise? Determine what's held you back in the past.

2) Address your barriers to success.
Decide how you can address what's holding you back. If you're an emotional eater, think of activities you can do instead of eating to help yourself feel better. Try talking to a friend, journaling, yoga or going for a walk. If exercise hasn't been your thing in the past, rethink what you're doing. If you hate going to the gym and hitting the treadmill, maybe you would enjoy swimming or a group fitness dance class instead. When you're trying to decide how to get over these hurdles, there's nothing wrong with asking others (like one of our NewMeMD wellness consultants) for help.

3) Replace negative thoughts with healthy ones. When you find negative thoughts entering your mind, try to shut them down and remind yourself that you're making a difference by trying to be healthier. Think about how much more energy and confidence you'll have when you reach your goals, and how, by taking the steps that you are, you're greatly lessening your chances of health problems later on. It's important to remember that it's about progress--not perfection.
